Last Minute Christmas Trips Can Be Fun!

Christmas is normally a time of year where you work a lot with family. However, what if you really want to do something different? A lot of people often don’t have enough family living near them to get into any type of activity, and others really don’t have family at all. You shouldn’t let that stop you from having a great time. There are a few travel deals to be had… if you’re willing to be flexible.

Remember that when it comes to the travel industry, empty space doesn’t make them any money. They don’t want to see empty spaces if they can help it. Of course, the truth is that they are going to have some empty chairs going on, which is going to cost them some money. But if they can offer you a discount, then they’re going to do that…especially if that means you’re going to be filling a space that nobody else would have filled.

Christmas Trips
There’s a few ways to be a bit more flexible and still have a great time:

Timing. Make sure that you think about when you want to take off, and when you want to land. Some people think that they need to travel during the middle of the day…but that’s when everyone else is traveling. If you want to go with big savings, try flying very early in the morning. Most people do not want to wake up that early just to make a flight happen. Remember that you will have to be at the airport at least 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3-4 hours before an international one. You never know when the extra time could save your flight.

Remember that if you do take advantage of any discounting, those tickets aren’t going to be refundable. So if things come up at the last minute, you’re going to still have to make your trip work.

Your budget is going to play a big role in this. Don’t think that you’re going to have to go over your budget just to have a good time. It’s all about what you can do, how you can get it done, and where you want to go. Some destinations are going to be cheaper than others. If you’re going to be flexible, being location and time flexible combined is a really good idea.

You will enjoy a last minute trip because you’re going to be saving money, but it’s important to really stay in that moment. Sure, you’re going to be doing something that most people don’t, but isn’t that what life is for? Think about the trip you desire and then make it happen — what are you waiting for? Go out there and shine!

It’s Time To Plan Your Christmas Cruise!

We love the idea of traveling during Christmas time, even though some people are pretty much dead set against it. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to go ahead and have a good time at Christmas, even though a lot of people assume that the time you have is sacred and off limits. Why is that? Christmas should be a time where you spend it however you want, with whoever you want. There’s nothing like being able to rest and enjoy yourself.

Yet do you really want to do the hotel shuffle again? That can get a little old. If you really want to do something fun, it’s time to think about a Christmas cruise. OK, you might be reading this and thinking that there are still several months before Christmas, so how can we even start talking about a cruise? The truth of the matter is that cruises matter all the time, and the longer you schedule your cruise in advance, the more streamlined it will really be. When it comes to something like traveling during the holidays, you really don’t want to wait till the last minute. All that will cause is for you to end up paying a lot more than you really should, and who really wants to do that?

That’s what we thought.

There are a lot of different Christmas time cruises to choose from, and the one you want will depend on…well, your actual wants and desires. Do you want to have more of a freeform experience, or do you really need something that’s more regimented and scheduled in order to have a good time? Do you want a ship that has a lot of amenities, or can you deal with more of a barebones experience that just lets you enjoy time out at sea with a good book? The prices are going to range a bit, but you’ll save money by traveling with a friend. This is because you will avoid having to pay single occupancy rates, or dealing with having a random roommate assigned to you. There’s nothing worse than having to deal with that, so make sure that you really do plan ahead of time to get things done.

Keep in mind that the inclusive rates you see on cruises often don’t include all of the airfare. Even if they do, it’s only the airfare to actually fly to the destination itself — if you live in an area where you’d have to make two flights, you can bet that you’re going to pay for at least one of them.

Now is the perfect time to think about planning your Christmas cruise — why not get started today?

Is It Too Early to Start Thinking About Christmas?

Vacation planners, unite! You’re definitely in good company. Yes, we know that now there is a trend going around where you just drop everything and take a vacation, but that’s really not our style. In the case of holiday vacations, you really can’t just drop everything and go. For starters, you’re going to end up paying a lot more money at the last minute traveling like this, and you’re going to be fighting a lot more people for the same services across the board. This is a nightmare that you don’t really want to live, trust us. We’ve waited till the last minute to travel during a major holiday and it’s backfired in so many terrible ways.

So when one of our travel leaders asked about whether or not it’s too early to start thinking about Christmas, we had to laugh. Folks, it’s never too late to think about Christmas travel. Heck, some people plan their next Christmas vacation right after they get home from the previous one. We’re not that extreme, but planning a few months in advance isn’t as crazy as you might think.

If you’re going to go on a Christmas cruise, it’s downright necessary. You’re going to have to turn in your deposit and other fees early so that the trip planner knows how many people are actually going. Sure, there are chances to do a last minute cruise here and there, but we can’t vouch on the quality aspect. We think that cruises and vacations in general are better when you actually can take time in advance to plan things out. We’re not fans at all of this new revolution where everyone just drops things and travels at the last minute. It’s hard to get things under your control in this case and really, we like having things under control as much as possible.

So, where do you really begin? Like any other trip, Christmas vacation is going to have some common themes. You’re going to want to think about how to get there, where to stay, how much to spend, what to do, and who to take with you. Yes, we assume that you’re going to take at least one person. Even though we’re fans of solo travel, Christmas is a time to connect with people. You have the rest of the year to think about solo travel. To get your social interactions on, you should try to take at least one person. This can be your significant other or even a coworker from work — we’re not picky here. Just make sure that you’re not going to be alone. The reason why we say that is because a lot of our friends traveled solo for Christmas, and they hated being reminded that they didn’t have anyone with them.

The money is going to be the next issue. If you’re traveling during the Christmas season, there are a lot of things that are going to be demanding money from you — and a lot more money than other points of the year. Don’t like it? Travel at another time of the year. The major venue operators around the world know that if you won’t pay the rate, another person will. That’s called supply and demand, the laws o f economics are actually not on your side at all. There are deals to be had though, but they’re going to go to the people that actually take time to sniff out the deals. If you’re just going to laze about on this topic, you’re better off either paying the asked-for price, or traveling at another time of the year.

Now, we don’t mean to be downers here — there’s a lot of fun to be had at Christmastime, especially if you’re going to travel somewhere that actually has a warm climate during a time where most places are going to expect snow. Just make sure that you plan ahead, budget smart, and keep a wide list of things to do — you’ll be just fine!

Christmas Family Holidays

Having a Christmas holiday away with family can be a fantastic thing or it can be terrible. Some people really look forward to this sort of thing and others really dread it. It is always nice to try to make it good.

Making it a good thing can take some thought, but it can be worth it as the results can be great. If there is a big group of you then organisation can be harder, especially if there are several family members who like to take over the organisation. It is a good idea to make sure that everyone is happy with plans before proceeding and that could mean making sure that everyone communicates well.

It will mean that everything from the location to the duration as well as the activities planned will all have to be discussed at length and arranged beforehand but it could mean that the holiday is much more pleasurable. This will of course depend on how many people are going but once more than one family gets involved then it is likely to become more difficult to organise things. Also reaching a compromise could be hard and may mean that some people end up missing out on what they want to do which could end up making them miserable.

However, if things are likely to get extremely stressful, it could be better to consider not doing it at all. Many people just go to a certain place at Christmas because it is their tradition and not because they actually enjoy it. Travelling at this time of the year is always difficult and so it could be worth planning to do it at a quieter time or just not doing it at all. Christmas is about traditions and family but it should also be about fun and relaxation.

Christmas in a Hotel

Many people would not consider spending Christmas away from home. We tend to all have family traditions and most of them are associated with waking up in your own bed and getting straight on with cooking the lunch.

However, there are some people who tend to return to a hotel year after year and therefore there must be something which attracts them. The first thing is the fact that you will get a rest. There will be no worries about making meals at all or washing up. This will make a huge difference and might even prevent a few family disagreements.

Some people even have quite a few family members meeting up in the same hotel. This means that you can share your celebrations together and swap gifts in the hotel and then have your meal together. It is a great way to make sure that no one has to worry about who it is that cooks the meal and whose house has to be used. It could also get over the problems of finding space for everyone. Obviously there is the issue of the cost of doing this and there is no doubt that it will be more expensive than all staying at one family home.

However, it could be a much better time, more memorable, more relaxed and so it could certainly be worth considering. Another option is to just go out for the main meal of the day and then the costs will be lower but you will still not have to worry about the cooking and washing up on the big day, at least for one meal anyway. If you choose either option then you will have to be prepared to book it up well in advance because it will be something that a lot of people will want to do.

Christmas getaways in the UK

Many people enjoy staying at home with the family when it is Christmas time, but it can make a good change if you go away. It is nice to be away from all of the hard work, family commitments and dull television and do something different for a change. It can be difficult deciding which family members to see and when and what to cook and things like that. The decorating, cleaning, shopping and visiting can be exhausting and it might be an idea to think about going away and having a rest for a change.

Many hotels will provide a really good Christmas lunch and although it may seem expensive it is likely to be cheaper for residents and it will save someone or a group of people, a lot of work. It is the one special day of the year when the meal has to be just perfect and so by having it outside of the house and letting someone else cook it, it could reduce a lot of the stress.

An alternative is to rent a large holiday home where all of the family can be together in one house. It can be difficult finding room for everyone to be together in the one place, all squeezing in to one place or having to sleep in hotels nearby. Hiring a holiday home could mean that you can all be together over the Christmas period. The cooking could be shared between you all and the rent could be split between you all instead of buying presents. It could save a lot of hassle and money.

It is likely that there are family traditions with regards to what you do over Christmas but it could be a really nice change to get away and do something quite different. It may even start a new family tradition.
