There are many reasons why portable BBQs are a fantastic investment and you’ll find that most of the top brands, including Weber, have a wide range of these types of grills from which you can choose.

As their name suggests, portable BBQs are a lot lighter and easier to carry than their larger and traditional counterparts, and I think if you like to cook food in this way and enjoy exploring the great outdoors, these should definitely be at the top of your shopping list. Make sure you buy a portable BBQ from a brand that is known for quality, though – you don’t want to get all the way to your campsite to find out the item isn’t fit for purpose!

Below is a guide to the benefits and uses of portable barbecues:

You can take them anywhere

This might seem obvious, but if you fancy nipping round to a friend’s house for a barbecue (and they don’t own one) or you like to go camping and on outdoor adventures, having a Weber portable BBQ to hand means you have the freedom to do so whenever you like. When camping, you’ll often be in the middle of nowhere or on a budget. Being able to set up a barbecue and whip up tasty food, such as grilled vegetable kebabs, sausages and chicken, will certainly prove convenient and a fun way to spend a relaxing evening.

They’re also fantastic for last-minute getaways. If you decide to escape to the beach for the weekend, there’s no need to worry about where to eat or whether you can afford to go. Just grab your portable BBQ and some food from the fridge and you’ll have everything you need!

You can buy them in gas and charcoal

You’ll probably have your own opinions as to which type of BBQ you prefer, but the great thing about portable grills is that they come in both charcoal and gas, like the full-sized versions. If you want your food to have that unique chargrilled flavour, invest in a charcoal portable barbecue such as the Weber Smokey Joe. These are perfect if there are two or three of you – or perhaps you’re enjoying a break alone. Whether you’re having a day out on the beach or are deep in the woods, it’s big enough to cook enough food to fill you, but small enough to be easily carried.

If you’re a little bit impatient and like your barbecues to be at the perfect cooking temperature as quickly as possible, snap up a gas portable BBQ. These are powered with convenient gas cylinders that you can (responsibly, of course) dispose of when empty.

They won’t break the bank

Despite the fact they are lightweight and convenient, portable BBQs are actually really affordable – I was surprised just how so. Whether you use it all the time or on just a few occasions each year, you’ll certainly get your money’s worth. This is especially the case due to their small size, as they don’t need as much fuel and if you’re in a small group, there won’t be wasted heat and plate space, as there would be on a full-sized model. Think of all the cash you can save on camping and self-catering holidays if you have a Weber portable grill to hand!

If you have used portable BBQs before, what other benefits do these products have?

Travel Insurance in the UK Is Truly Worth More Than You Can Imagine

Are you trying to go on a nice holiday? You probably have done all of your preparation in hopes of finally being able to get away. It’s an exciting time to travel because there are always so many deals to really sink your teeth into. However, just before you get too terribly excited about the idea of getting away from all of the stress and strain of regular life, you might want to really step back and make sure that you have other things taken care of appropriately.

This would mean making sure that you not only have the legal side of travel covered, but you also make sure that you have your travel insurance needs covered.

Travel insurance in the UK isn’t just for those that are paranoid about bad stuff happening. It’s also for people that feel like they really need to ensure that everything goes well with their trip. And trust us — you should be preparing for the best, but expecting the worst. Life is all about things happening out of nowhere sometimes, and you don’t want to let a good holiday go bad.

For example, do you know that your health insurance will necessarily transfer to another country? If you don’t, you could be on the hook for a lot of very expensive medical bills. That’s one thing that can really take the joy out of a nice holiday. You just need to make sure that you are planning ahead as much as possible.

In the information age, there’s really no need to feel like you can’t find good travel insurance. There are many sites online that will let you compare and contrast travel insurance plans. You should always try to comparison shop as much as possible to make sure that you’re getting the best deal.

Is the best deal always about the best price? Not always. You will need to still make sure that you’re thinking about what’s actually being offered in the travel insurance plan. Does it cover you and you only, or your family members? Does it cover your true replacement costs, or just an estimated value? These are the things that you really need to know before you leave for your holiday. So if you’re going to be booking in advance, you will need to plan your travel insurance in advance as well. Make sure that there isn’t any lengthy waiting period that has to be activated before you can get your travel insurance benefits. If you have to talk on the phone with an agent, you need to ask them what you would need to do in case you have to make a claim.

It sounds like a lot of work, but you really can’t put a price tag on peace of mind. So in that spirit, we really would urge you to get travel insurance today!

Tiny nations might seem funny, but independence is something that’s truly worth cherishing. If you’ve got some holiday time coming up and you really want to get away from life, heading out to Monaco is a great way to go.

Monaco? Really? Absolutely! A lot of people sell Monaco short but it’s truly an interesting little country! Are you looking for more information on Monaco? Jump on into this guide — you won’t be disappointed at all!

First and foremost, you need to make sure that you understand a little more about the region. Monaco is a constitutional monarchy and a fully independent state. The country relies on banking as well as tourism, so you will plenty to do if that’s what you really want.

Planning your trip is going to be the most important. Don’t wait till the last minute, because you will end up having to take “the scraps” in terms of accommodations and even rentals, and who wants to do that. No, you will need to ensure that you start booking things in advance. There’s really no need for a car, because there are plenty of transit options.

Monaco is a country with some steep elevations, so you will have some public escalators and even elevators that can help you get up the steep slopes of the city. There are also a few ferries that will help you get where you need to go.

Boating is a huge industry in Monaco as well. Many wealthy travelers buy private yachts and bring them here — some people like to sit by the water and look at those grand old yachts in action. There are small cruise ships that come in and out of the area as well.

Renting a bike is a pleasurable way to tour all things Monaco, but there are taxis as well as buses that you can turn to. The tickets aren’t expensive at all, and there’s even a night bus service. This means that there’s no reason to rent a car when you can let someone else do the driving!

Let’s talk about all of the things to see. You’ll see museums, the Monaco Palace, plenty of shopping smalls, spots to rest along the harbor and even some casinos. Gambling is a pastime to be had in Monaco, and many of the local casinos definitely focus on style, luxury, and comfort. Things around the casino are going to b ea little pricey, but there are some bargains to be had in Monaco — don’t get scared!

The Monaco Cathedral is absolutely beautiful, and it actually stands on the site of a 13th century earlier church that is no longer standing. You’ll actually find some pretty good restaurants in the church square, so don’t skip over this spot if you’ve really got an appetite.

The Jardin Exotique is another attraction that you have to see in Monaco. It’s gorgeous with plenty of desert plants as well as some subtropical plant life that is pretty cool.

Marine flora and fauna are displayed in style at the Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium. It’s located 279 feet above sea level, and there are tons and tons of things to look at. The ground floor is filled with exhibitions, and there’s even stuff in the basement to see — like the ability to actually look at the aquatic life in their own habitat. There’s a restaurant on the museum grounds, so you have a chance to get a bite to eat with no trouble.

If you’re into the finer arts, there’s the Monaco Opera House as well as the Marlborough Fine Arts Gallery. It’s absolutely gorgeous with tons of paintings by a lot of world favorites — Picasso, Brassai, Bourgeois, Chihuly, and Matisse.

If you’re going to gamble, you’ll need to make sure that you bring your passport — Monegasque citizens are not allowed to gamble at the casino. There’s a strict dress code — you will need to be pretty stylish at most of the casinos like the Grand Casino. If you go to other casinos in Monte Carlo, you will not have to pay an admission fee nor will you have to get dressed up.

Racing fan? There’s the Formula 1 Grand Prix, which attracts just about every racing fan that can afford it. There’s a reason for that — the Grand Pix is 77 laps around nearly 263km of the most narrow and twisted streets you can think of. The cars get pretty close to you, which is thrilling for any true racing fan.

If you really want to get adventurous, you can check out France and Italy from Monaco as well. Many other European cities are available by plane within a 2 hour trip, which makes for a lot of fun world adventures.

Shopping is something that can be done, but you must keep in mind that many things in Monaco at large are designed for the well to do. Luxury is going to be everywhere you look. Even if you don’t want to buy anything, there are plenty of gorgeous things to look at. Boutiques are everywhere and a lot of custom items can be purchased.

So, what about food? Well, since Monaco relies so heavily on tourism, you can definitely bet that there’s going to be a lot of delicious food for you to check out. Just about every type of cuisine you can think of is going to be represented here. When the rich and famous come to Monaco to play, they don’t want to hear no for an answer — which is why so many options have come to bear.

If you’re into drinking, champagne is considered nearly the national standard in Monaco. But it’s going to be pricey, so watch out!

Not sure where to sleep? You should check out the Monaco tourist information center — they will help you make calls and find somewhere to sleep. Keep in mind nothing in Monaco is going to be super cheap to sleep in, so if that’s a problem you might want to go just outside the border where a lot of budget places have set up shop.

Overall, you will find a pleasant and delightful experience awaits you in Monaco. It’s a separate nation from France that definitely has its own vibrant points and places of interest. The people are warm and friendly, and they just can’t wait for you to visit their country and truly take in the history of all things Monaco — why not book your holiday today? You’ll be glad that you did!

Whether you consider yourself to be a stressful person or not, looking after yourself and taking the time to enjoy holidays is vital to your health. Getting away from the daily routine can make a huge difference, but many worry that you can’t get the best, relaxing holidays without over-spending. This just isn’t true, if you know a few tips and tricks.

Getting the feeling of luxury when you’re away from home is something we all deserve. There are so many destinations around the globe that we want to visit – from the Maldives to the Galapagos – and you need to know that visiting is easier than you think.

Find out how by reading on:

Who

Choosing the right operator is quite important to make sure that you get the experience you’ve always dreamed of. But, while this is important, you need to weigh up the costs of the trip against convenience. You don’t want to fly across the globe without knowing what you’re doing and when, but by cutting out the agent and going straight to a recommended operator can save big, big money. What’s more is that we’ve seen the rise of fire sale and discount online stores like Achica that allow us to take advantage of enviable discounts and rates that make a holiday to Morocco or Hong Kong cost a snip of what you’d expect to pay.

Where

Of course, where you’re heading away there are going to be some places that cost more than others to travel to. Cancun, for example, has become quite a popular spot with British tourists because of the all-inclusive and – comparatively – cheap packages that the five-star hotels there offer. There are other places as well, Greece is a great one because it’s well-known as a beach holiday destination, but there are many options for luxury stay in the country – Cyprus has a similar appeal. Other options include Thailand and, if you’re feeling adventurous, South American travel now has luxury tendencies that weren’t always a staple of travel to the continent.

When

If you’re thinking about taking a trip down to a luxury destination then you need to understand the costings. It may not seem like rocket science to go in off-peak times or at the end of the season and book budget flights as soon as possible but plans and life don’t tend to go hand in hand. Take advantage of the “shoulder season” between the high and low season and you will find the best discounts. If you’re a keen skier consider the Alps in Easter when the snow might now be as fresh but it’ll be good enough for a great holiday. Similarly, if you’re trekking to the Maldives then get book in between April and November because it’s known to specialise in winter sun for Europeans.

Everyone deserves a little luxury in life, and combining this with a holiday can help you recharge the batteries. But, don’t worry too much about high prices, with a little common sense and an eye on the shoulder season you will be able to take in golden beaches and turquoise seas within your budget.

Are you looking for a different type of vacation? You’re not the only one. A lot of people actually desire to be able to get out of their normal lives, but they don’t want to just sit on the beach. They don’t want to just go to a new city and sit in the hotel. They don’t want to just go to a spa and relax the whole day.

And if you’re sitting there at home nodding along with all of these points, chances are pretty good that you feel the same way. Again, there’s nothing wrong with going with a different type of vacation. A vacation should be what you want, not what everyone else wants. If you really want to be able to go out and have a vacation filled with water rafting, kayaking, mountain climbing or even just hiking, you should be able to do that.

As you might imagine, planning a vacation like this means that you will need to think a little differently than everyone else who just wants to be on the beach. You will need to make sure that you are thinking about how you will get there, and if you will need any type of gear to go with you.

If you are a full fledged adrenaline junkie already, you might already have a house full of gear that you want to take with you. What you are going to have to look into is how much it’s going to cost for your gear to go with you. Now, if you are traveling somewhere by car, then it’s just a matter of being able to fit into your car. Of course, if you need a bigger car that’s what rentals are for. It’s quite possible to rent something big enough to take you where you need to go. You just nee dot make sure that you actually have the ability to get it done. The last thing that you want to do is find that you can’t rent a car after all. This is why it’s so critical to be able to call and look into things ahead of time.

There’s nothing like being able to take off on a great adventure. If you’re trying to take pictures of the journey, make sure that you actually get a rugged digital camera that can keep up with you. All of the best brands are also waterproof, so you aren’t going to have to worry about your memories being destroyed if you were going to go to a different location where there’s a lot of water.

You also want to make sure that you think about travel insurance. Yes, you want to have a treat time and have a new adventure to talk about, but the truth is that you still need to make sure that you think about everything that you honestly want to accomplish. It’s very tempting to be able to sit there and think that everything will be planned out for you.

Now, if you book with a touring company that specializes in “adrenaline vacations”, then that’s going to be a different story. You’ll be paying a premium for them to go ahead of you and plan everything out for you. That’s something that’s definitely an option if you really want that. However, the truth is that you might want to end up planning your own vacation a few times before you go with the touring company. That way you know exactly what you’re paying for, exactly what you want, and exactly what you don’t want.

As long as you’re thinking about safety, convenience, and everything else that goes into a classic vacation, you’ll have everything you need to plan the right amount of adventure into your new vacation. Why not check it out for yourself? You’ll be glad that you did!

Venezuela is a lot more than Hugo Chavez and political revolution — it’s a country filled with culture, people, and plenty of things to see and do. As we mentioned with other travel articles, it’s always up to you to figure out what you can handle and what you can’t when it comes to where you want to travel next. Are we saying that you should always ignore government travel warnings? Not at all — when there are active riots going on, it might be best to steer clear. When there are areas of knock kidnapping attempts, you don’t want to try to bring your children there. However, when it’s just an active political country where people want a better life… is that really so bad? We didn’t think so.

So, what do you need to know first about Caracas? Well, quite a bit actually — it’s the capital of Venezuela, and it’s actually more of a well kept secret than a major tourist attraction. We write about it here because anything that isn’t super popular can also have great deals perfect for the traveler that might want to look at something a little bit off the beaten path.

The city is nestled right into a gorgeous valley that’s shadowed by Mount Avila, a huge mountain that keeps the city separated from the Caribbean Sea. You can’t miss it, since it shapes most of the city’s landscape.

There’s even a cable car that goes from the bottom of the mountain to the top of the mountain, which is perfect for tourists looking to really see some stunning views.

Travelers from more Westernized countries might be surprised to see how sharp the class divides are in Caracas — you can really tell who has an affluent lifestyle and who does not. There are very poor neighborhoods and very wealthy ones. You will obviously want to make sure that you guard your possessions and ensure that you are going to be able to always take care of things while you are traveling.

One thing that you will like about Caracas is the gas prices are very, very inexpensive — mere coins per gallon, no matter what currency we’re talking about. The downside is that traffic is very heavy, so you might want to stay on foot or stick to car services.

If you want to party on vacation, this is definitely the city to do it! In fact, a lot of people come to this city for Christmas and New Year’s so that they can really celebrate the New Year in great luxury. It’s possible to even get short stay rentals that are far superior to other types of rentals around the world for the price. If you have a little extra money, shelling out for a great apartment that’s close to everything can really make all of the difference.

What you will also find in the city are plenty of places to shop and eat. You’ll find cuisine from all over the world, because many different groups came to Caracas after WWII.

Speaking of staying around the city, you might want to make sure that you bring some extra money. A lot of the budget accommodations tend to sell out quickly. If you don’t have a reservation in advance, you might end up getting pushed into a hotel that might be stretching your budget a bit.

Even though Caracas is billed as the world’s most violent city, that doesn’t mean that there’s death and destruction waiting for you. This is not a city that we would recommend to people traveling for the first time. However, it’s a city that we would recommend to someone that’s thinking about living on the edge a little bit, someone that’s traveled before, and someone that definitely doesn’t mind being in a foreign country that might be slightly hostile. The local residents of Caracas are pretty friendly, and as long as you pay them the same respect that would be paid to members of your own country, then everything will flow smoothly. It’s only when you think that as a tourist you’re above the people that live there that bad things tend to start becoming much more likely to happen.

Overall, keep Caracas in mind if you’re looking for something a little more adventurous — have fun!

La Paz is one of two capitals of Bolivia, and if you think that a capital city can’t be exciting we have some good news for you — it definitely can! What you’re going to need to do is think about checking out things that might not end up in Travel Destinations 101.

What do we mean by that? Well, a lot of people reach for the classic destinations that get talked about quite a bit in the travel scene. And there’s nothing wrong with that at all. You might really want to do Paris in the wintertime. You might really want to think about a nice jaunt through Rome — oh, the history! The culture! But if you ask us, we think that there comes a point where you really owe it to yourself to start checking out more than just the basics. You want to really make sure that you’re always thinking about the type of vacation you really want. Of course, we’re not saying that you can’t stick with the classics. There’s so much to view on the classic destinations that you really can’t go wrong. However, there’s also a time and a place to check out new things. We think La Paz fits the description just fine, because it’s not talked about as much. Bolivia, despite assumptions to the contrary, is getting safer by the day, and there’s not really as much unrest as the media would have you believe.

Like Montevideo and Bogota, this is a city that is above sea level — actually about 13,000 feet above sea level at the highest point. The lower points are going to be about 10 thousand feet above sea level.

You might get a little bout of altitude sickness, but you can fight this and be on your merry way in no time at all. Many people actually go in and out of La Paz without any trouble at all.

So, how do you get around La Paz? Glad you asked! You will be able to choose between the bus system, the taxis, or on foot. Car hire is not something that’s really highlighted in the city, as it’s rather expensive. Taxi tends to be the best way to get around, but keep in mind that there is no meter. So you basically need to make sure that you negotiate things before you actually get in and take off. You’ll find the taxi operator will work things out with you if you really work on it.

There are plenty of things to see and do in La Paz, such as the Witches’ Market. Yes, we’re not kidding you at all — there’s a whole marketplace devoted to selling things for local folk magic rituals. There’s also hand made instruments, so you can definitely pick up some interesting things to take back home.

Sagarnaga Street is going to be where you see a lot of little shops and souvenir stores, but there are also a lot of cheap hostels there as well. Who said that you always have to spend a lot of money just have to a great time in another country? Keep in mind though that these hostels will be basic — if you want more amenities, you’re going to have to pay more for them.

There’s also a “black market” that isn’t very well hidden, but it has a lot of interesting items if you want to use them to make your stay a little more interesting. Keep in mind that you might not be able to get any of these items through customers on your way back.

If you want culture and history, there are plenty of museums to get this mission accomplished. The Calle Jaen is a section of the city that has plenty of preserved colonial buildings, and lots of interesting museums. There’s lasso the Plaza Murillo which has more neat buildings as well as the city cathedral.

One of the nice parts about this modern city is that there are a lot of activities as well. You can check out the Penas, or music clubs. The folk music is a local staple, and it definitely will appeal to tourists looking to really experience the local “flavor” of a destination.

There are also plenty of movie theaters in case you don’t want to miss a Hollywood blockbuster going on.

Shopping is also a big thing. If you’ve always wanted to support fair trade producers, this is the city to check out. There’s a big marketplace that sells plenty of handmade items that you can’t just get on the street for the same quality. You support a great cause too as the extra money you spend goes directly to improving the lives of the craftsmen’s families.

Food is going to be in good supply around the city, with different restaurants catering to not only different tastes, but also different budgets. You don’t want to find that you’re going through all of this trouble to get something that really isn’t going to satisfy you, right? If you want to set up your holiday to where you can get a cheap set of meals but save up your time and money for one fancy one, you can definitely do that. Gourmet food has to be tasted in order to be appreciated properly.

As we come to the end of this guide, we really do hope that you give Bolivia — and La Paz — a fair chance. If you’re looking for a getaway this holiday season, you really can’t go wrong with the vibrant city around you — why not check it out today?

Most in the UK have long come to Corsica for their annual holiday, but even if you’re not into the practice there’s still a whole world of information that needs to come out about Corsica. It truly is one of the nicest destinations on earth, and there’s a lot to see and do there that just cannot be ignored.

So if you’re in the planning stages of this year’s holiday, we would definitely love for you to come and check out everything that there is to see and do when it comes to life in Corsica!

Even though it might sound like an Italian destination, it’s actually a French island. It’s a popular holiday spot for travelers for a lot of different reasons. The island is truly beautiful, with so much diversity in terms of wildlife, scenery, and even the people. It’s been protected against heavy development and tourism efforts, which makes it even more treasured. A lot of visitors to Corsica like the fact that there’s not a lot of heavy development, yet there’s still enough structure there that you don’t have to feel like you’re going to be in the middle of nowhere. It’s just a matter of really seeing what you need to do and what you need to avoid, honestly.

What you need to honestly avoid is waiting till the last minute. If you know that you want to make this your holiday destination, it’s definitely a good idea to book as early as you possibly can get away with. During the summer months, everyone swarms this island and it’s hard to get a hotel or even a mere campsite. Car rentals are just as problematic, so you’re going to need to make sure that you plan accordingly. It’s all about making sure that you get your choice of accommodations rather than just having to take whatever’s available.

Being able to speak a few words of Italian or French is going to help you while you try to navigate from place to place, but many in the heavy tourist sections will even speak a bit of English from years of exposure.

Getting around Corsica means renting a car. Yes, there is some public transit, but it’s very unreliable and you could end up missing scheduled tours or even getting back off the island. You need to make sure that you have enough money budgeted for car rental. As long as you have an international driver’s license, you should be just fine in this regard.

What about all of the things to see and do? Well, since you’re going to be in the middle of an island, you will have the chance to do a lot of long distance walking. The hardest trail on the island would be the GR 20, which takes nearly 17 days. If you’re used to this type of long distance walking then you can do it in less time. However, if you’re a newbie you might have to take a little more time. Camping along the trail is also a good idea. You will also need to make sure that you’re very good at reading a map, because it’s very easy to get lost and wander off the trail.

If you want a shorter trail, you might want to check out the Mare e Mare Sud, which is about a 5 day trail.

Since Corsica is an island, there are actually plenty of beaches to be had. The sand is wonderful and the water in summer is nice and warm. There are opportunities to snorkel and even scuba dive. You’ll see plenty of aquatic wildlife to make it worth your while.

Windsurfing and even kite surfing is popular, and there are operators right on the beach that will offer these services for you. Sunbathing of course, is free and lets you sit back and just enjoy the best that life has to offer.

So, let’s cover the food, shall we?

Since the island of Corsica has been influenced by both the French and the Italians, you’ll find plenty of that cuisine here. Chestnuts are considered one of the island’s mainstay foods, and there’s going to be plenty of dishes on the island that feature it.

Pig and boar meat is also considered a high delicacy, and many charcuterie options are available — lonzu, coppa, ham, figatellu, and saucisson are all produced here. Local food is often the best food, but it can be difficult to find. Many restaurants are more worried about trying to serve tourist tastes than serve up a slice of true authentic Corsican dishes.

If you get a chance to shop, there’s a lovely olive oil produced all over the island that you can take back with you.

Corsica restaurants also produce their own cola, as well as many types of beer that are native to the island.

Overall, Corsica is a very safe place that has plenty of outlets for rest and relaxation. So if you’re thinking about finally getting a chance to step out of your normal life, you really can’t go wrong with choosing Corsica as the best spot to do it at!

Planning holidays in advance is good…as long as you know where you want to go next. Since we’ve been on the theme of classic destinations, what could be more classic than Rome? It’s commonly called the Eternal City, and there’s a lot of history here. It’s the famous city of the Roman Empire, with the Seven Hills and a massive center of culture and religion. It’s been around for 2,500 years, which means that there’s going to be quite a bit to see and do. Historically Rome was a very powerful place, but don’t think that modern Rome doesn’t hold anything to offer.

Like most old cities, Rome is actually divided into a lot of different districts. You will want to start with the historical area, which is made up of Old Rome and Colosseo.

The Modern Center is really where most people will find themselves. This is where many of the hotels are going to be, as well as shopping and dining experiences. The Quirinale is here, along with the Trevi fountain.

The Vatican is also a district in Rome, and you’re more than welcome to visit it. As it is a religious center, you will want to make sure that you’re very respectful as much as you can.

The Colosseo is where a lot of the Latin students and history buffs gather. It’s the heart of ancient Rome, and you’ll see the Colosseum in all of its glory, along with the Roman Forum.

The North Center includes the Spanish Steps and other interesting facets of the city.

The North, South, and Ostia districts include a lot of suburban life, and might not be of interest to tourists. Still, if you want to explore this area you definitely can with no trouble at all.

Planning your time to go to Rome is very important, because for two weeks in August you will find a lot of places in Rome closed for the holidays. That doesn’t mean that you can’t find anything to do or anything to eat. IT simply means that it’s going to be a lot less people around. If you like that type of thing, then you should definitely shoot for this time of year. However, most people might want to step back and really avoid pursuing this type of thing. It’s completely up to you to figure out what you’re going to do.

In order to get in, you will want to make sure that you go through the international airport — usually going to be Leonardo da Vinci / Fiumicino International Airport. It’s connected to the center of the city by public transportation. To make sure that you don’t have to take a taxi, you might want to schedule a late morning arrival.

There is also Ciampino International Airport, which is often where the low-cost airlines fly into.

Public transportation is really the order of the day if you’re going to be a tourist in Rome. Yes, you can rent a car but the truth is that getting around is much easier on foot or by public transportation. You want to void the car because the roads aren’t logical and there are few signs. The Italians know exactly where they’re going, but since you’re not a local, you probably don’t. Taxis are also to be avoided, because they’re the most expensive way to get around the city. Yes, they will pick you up and they are thankfully metered. However, it’s better to try to avoid the taxis if you can. Make sure that if you do take a taxi that the driver does start the meter. You don’t want the driver to just take off without setting the meter — it will start a fight.

You can also rent a bicycle and tour the city that way. Either way, you’re in for a treat when you get through the city. Why not enjoy it as much as possible?

When it comes to actually enjoying yourself, there are a lot of things that you can do. For starters, you can buy a full day pass that can get you into all of the sights that you probably want to see: the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, The Baths of Caracalla, and the catacombs.

Did you know that there are nearly 900 churches in Rome? That’s right — there’s a very strong Catholic presence. In fact, many people find that going to Rome as a Catholic truly helps them feel grounded and whole in their faith. If this is something important to you, then take some time to look at all of the churches for yourself. You don’t even have to visit all 900 — you can pick one to look at. They’re not hard to find, and even if you’re not religious the architecture is really hard to beat.

If you’re trying to learn Italian or even Latin, you’ll definitely find a lot of opportunities to do that.

There are a lot of shopping opportunities in Rome, but you need to make sure that you’re careful. Bigger sizes are going to be nearly impossible to find. In addition, you also want to feel the material of all of the clothes and make sure that you’re getting a good deal. You might have to try things on — don’t just take your UK or US size and go for it.

There are lots of vendors on the road that sell fake designer handbags, but you will want to make sure that you avoid these people. Its’ illegal to buy these products, and the fines can be pretty stiff!

How could we do a guide on Rome without talking about the food? There’s plenty of amazing restaurants, and it’s better to just explore the city and stumble on a few. You don’t want to go into the tourist areas to eat — you’re almost guaranteed to pay top dollar for bad food. As always, it’s better to go where the locals go.

Vegetarians really have a great time here, because the Mediterranean diet focuses so much on fresh vegetables.

Don’t forget that the gratuity in restaurants is often in the bill automatically, so you don’t have to tip the waitress.

Coffee in Rome is an experience that you have to savor at least once. If you’re going to order a Cappuccino, make sure that you avoid ordering it after 11 am — it’s seen as very un-classy and childish. Espresso is really the order of the day, and you’ll pretty much always be able to find it.

When it comes to accommodations, you really need to spring for a short term apartment rentals. There are really so many different ones to choose from, and it’ll give you the best chances of really being able to have an authentic Roman vacation. However, you can also get into the hotel system if you want. Avoid the downtown area, as they are way too expensive.

There are a lot of great things to see and do in Rome, to the point where we’d probably have to write ten guides just to cover everything. But that’s what happens when you deal with a city as old as Rome. So if you want to go with the classic holiday, you really can’t go wrong with jetting off to Rome next!

Holiday homes, vacation homes, short term stays — it’s all code for the same thing: comfort. Luxury. Convenience. Power. When you decide to break away from the classic hotel structure, you might have quite a few of your fellow travelers wondering if there’s something wrong with you. Unfortunately, the way most people assume travel has to be is where you bounce from flight to flight and from hotel to hotel. A lot of people have started to buck this trend by looking into creating a home away from home — literally!

Enter the world of vacation hotels, where you can really get anything you want done, as long as you’re willing to push forward and know what you want. This can be easier said than done, for a lot of different reasons. Depending on where you go in the world, there are a lot of shady deals that go forward. There’s nothing worse than finally getting to your host country and finding that the deal that you signed up for isn’t quite what you were expecting. In order to protect yourself, there are a few things that you might want to look at.

First and foremost, you want to make sure that there are a few reviews for the place that you’re staying to stay at. It’s a sign that they have been operating for a while. A home in a prime location that no one has ever stayed at should raise some red flags. And if you’ve already done your homework on the area of your choice, you’ll start learning real fast the places that are really where all of the action is. A prime location can be expensive, but you have to weight it against the other factors in the equation. Namely, do you really want to be in a far flung area where you have to drive or otherwise transport yourself to where everything is again? It would be better to be in a premium location where you know that you can see everything that the country has to offer. Maybe it means finding a little more money in your account for a trip like this, or maybe it means that you need to perhaps stay in less stellar accommodations. But it’s completely up to you with what you actually do.

A vacation home is what you make of it. If you have questions for the owner, by all means — ask them. Talk to them. Make sure that they understand that you are very interested in the place. Another thing that you will need to keep in min d is that money definitely talks — if you have the money to get things done, you are going to get things done in a big way. However, if you know that you really can’t afford it, you might want to look at alternatives.

During the busiest time of the travel season for that city, you might have a hard time getting the vacation home that you really want. That’s why it’s always a good idea to make sure that you actually pick out maybe 3-5 other options that you can move into in case that your first option isn’t where you want it to be. It’s just a matter of ensuring that you really take the time to plan through every option and think about what’s going to be best for the overall holiday as a whole.

We’re all about planning, but it goes without saying that sometimes you’re going to have to go with the flow. If you get to a vacation home that has everything you want, you should enjoy it. Don’t worry about the small repairs or things that won’t work quite the way you expect. You can drive yourself crazy worrying like that!

Now is the time to take action — great vacation homes tend to move quickly, so you have to be just as quick!
