Thanksgiving is a time for family — everyone knows that, and virtually no one will disagree with you in this regard. However, when your family is actually overseas, traveling to see them gets a little tricky. Yet it’s not impossible to actually go see them, as long as you’re willing to get a little creative.
First and foremost, you have to decide on what flight that you need to book. It’s assumed that you will need to fly instead of taking a boat — especially if you want to get there in time. You will need to make sure that you book your flight as early as possible, especially if you have very specific constraints that you’re trying to work within. For example, you might want to get a flight that will be able to leave in the mid-afternoon, after you’ve had a good night’s sleep and got6ten to wake up naturally. On the other hand, you might want to catch the red-eye flight and be there even earlier than you would be if you had to catch the mid-afternoon. It’s completely up to you. Just remember that you will need to hit the airport very early ahead of your flight for security purposes. The last thing you want is to get caught from your plane because you couldn’t get through the security checkpoints in the right length of time.
Since you’ll be traveling during a holiday season, you might want to pack lightly just to make it easier on yourself. When you’re trying to go overseas to visit family for Thanksgiving, you don’t want to carry a lot of things with you anyway. You’ll be too busy talking with everyone and catching up on lost time that you won’t really have time to play with all of those gadgets. If you must take your laptop or a handheld gaming console, make sure that you pack lightly on everything else.
